Shutter Speed

Shutter speed: amount of time exposed to light

The shutter blocks all light from making an exposure until you press the shutter release button. Then it quickly opens and closes, giving your film or digital card a brief flash of light.

Shutter speed is measured in fractions of seconds to as long as you want.

(If you make the aperture low to f/2.8 or f/4 then you will probably need a faster shutter speed 1/60th of a sec. or 1/125 of a sec. and vice versa.)
